Two APCSS professors selected to present at Asia Policy Assembly

APCSS professors  Virginia Watson and  Alexander Vuving  will present papers at the Asia Policy Assembly, an inaugural conference of the National Asia Research Program.  The two day conference will be held in Washington, D.C., June 17-18. Dr. Watson  will be presenting her paper entitled “Getting Blue and Ready: Water Governance in Asia.”  Dr. Vuving   will present his paper entitled “The Transformation of Vietnam’s Behavior and its Lessons for Policy Toward Recalcitrant States.” […]

Dr. Bill Wieninger joined the faculty of the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) in November 2008. He has wide-ranging academic interests and maintains specialization in myriad subjects, including Weapons of Mass Destruction issues, deterrence and missile defense, civil-military relations and security sector development, Indonesian politics, geopolitics, Women, Peace and Security, energy security, and, most recently, cyber security.Before joining the Center, he spent 15 years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force (USAF). Alexander Vuving

Dr. Alexander L. Vuving came to the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in 2008 from Tulane University, where he taught courses on International Relations, International Security, China and the World, and a field seminar in International Politics. Prior to Tulane, Dr. Vuving was a Post-doctoral Fellow and an Associate of Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government. Alfred Oehlers

Dr. Alfred Oehlers joined the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in March 2007. He was previously an associate professor at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Dr. Oehlers obtained his doctorate in political economy from the University of Sydney. He holds both a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in economics, from Macquarie University, Australia. Carleton R. Cramer

Carleton R. Cramer joined the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in 2004 as a military faculty member.  In 2007, Mr. Cramer retired from the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, United States Navy.  During 2007 he served as a civilian faculty member focusing on international law, counter terrorism and maritime security.  In August 2013, he assumed his current position as Dean, College of Security Studies.
