HONOLULU – Today, 40 military officers and civilian officials graduated from the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies “Comprehensive Security Responses to Terrorism Course (CSRT)” in Honolulu. The participants attending this three-week course were from 18 countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies is a Department of Defense regional study, conference and research center. The Center’s mission is to provide a forum where current and future military and civilian leaders from Asia-Pacific nations gather to enhance security cooperation through executive education, professional exchange, and policy-relevant research.

Participating in the CSRT course were representatives from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palau, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.

The “Comprehensive Security Responses to Terrorism” course is designed to build relationships between and among the United States and current and future counterterrorism practitioners of participating countries, to develop the trust and confidence necessary for increased information sharing, and to identify ways to reduce obstacles to cooperation in the international struggle against those who use terror to promote their goals.

To date, the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies has had almost 2,500 Fellows, from around the world; attend the courses at the Center. The Center has also hosted, or co-hosted, 106 conferences with more than 6,600 participants from 66 countries.
