Take 20: Orbit-2-Ocean: Technology Advancing Maritime Domain Awareness

On May 4, 2021, DKI APCSS’ LCDR Keith Wilkins chatted with Greg Poling and Ted Schmitt, for a webinar on “Orbit-2-Ocean: Technology Advancing Maritime Domain Awareness.” Poling and Schmitt discuss the future of maritime domain awareness (MDA) using enhanced tools (satellite data, high-resolution imagery, and big data processing) which will enable countries and regional partners opportunities to increase their response capabilities to a variety of maritime challenges. They also discuss how geopolitical tensions, disputed territorial boundaries, and a lack of transparency in the maritime domain create challenges in the Indo-Pacific.
